'Creativity' map

When we researched into how many creative businesses there are in North London, we created a database of nearly 3000 names and addresses. The postcodes were used to fix their locations on a map to see if different sub-sectors clustered in any particular way.
What we found was a fairly uniform spread of businesses in most of the sub-sectors, but there was a slightly higher density centred on Haringey and taking in the southeast corner of Barnet, the south of Enfield and the centre of Waltham Forest. Creative businesses were also scattered across the rest of the boroughs, but were more concentrated along main roads and in Town Centres and some industrial estates.
The 'creativity' map above was a result of this work. It provides us with another way to understand the sector in a sub-region like North London. The key areas to note are those indicated by the cross-hatching - those are where arts and creative businesses, Town Centres and major cultural venues can be found together.
